Proxy is a special server which allows you to aceess some website on the Internet by using this proxy as an intermediate point. It means that you send a request not to some Internet website directly, but to a proxy server, proxy server bypass it to an appropriate website and obtains a response from a website and then pass it to you. Thus, on a website it's identified that request was done not from your computer, but from a computer on which proxy server is running.

Depending on proxy anonimity level it gives you an ability to hide from a requested website your Internet identity, what could be useful for anonymous web-serfing or for other reason.

As far as some websites could ineract differently for the users from the different countries, proxy gives you an ability to connect to the website from the country in which proxy is running and hide your location from a requested website.

At some cases from your local network you will have no ability to access some Internet websites, because, for example, your network administrator has blocked it. In this case proxy will help you to access a required websites from your PC.

All reasons above and even more are the case which proxy servers were created and are existing. At this page we collect and publish free proxy servers which you are free-to-use for your own reason.

First of all you need to choose which type of a proxy to use. Here are some notes to let you undestand the common cases:

• Use HTTP proxy for simple web-serfing, which does not require SSL support (secured connections)
• Use HTTPS proxy if the website you need to access requires secured connection
• Use SOCKS proxy if you need to proxify not only web-traffic, but another traffic types, like IRC (chat). It supports both secured and non-secured connections.

Please, note that SOCKS proxies are always high anonymous, so if you don't need to hide your identity from a website for some reason, you need to choose one of HTTP or HTTPS proxy types with "None" anonymity level.

After you choose the proxy you want to use you need to change your Internet connection settings in your browser or another programm which should work through a proxy server. Below are simple instructions for different browsers.

Set up proxy for Windows

1. Go to "Start" → "Control Panel"
2. Dblclick "Internet Options"
3. Go to "Connections" tab
4. Click "LAN settings" button
5. Check "Use proxy server for your LAN..."
6. Click "Advanced" button
7. Set up an appropriate proxy host and port
8. Press "OK" until you close all pop-ups

Set up proxy for Ubuntu Linux

1. Open "Applications" → "System Tools" → "System Settings"
2. Click "Network" shortcut
3. Choose "Network proxy" tab
4. From "Method" select box choose "Manual"
5. Set up an appropriate proxy host and port
6. Press "Apply system wide" button
